ISKCON headquarters

Calling itself "the spiritual capital of the world", Mayapur is home to the global headquarters of ISKCON (International Society for Krishna Consciousness) - colloquially known as the Hare Krishna movement. The beautifully manicured ISKCON property in Mayapur includes a number of temples, educational facilities, and common areas for communal prayer and meditation.

Ballal Dhipi

For a break from the city's spiritual sights, venture a little outside the city limits to visit Ballal Dhipi - the spectacular ruins of a citadel dating back to the 12th century or earlier. Currently, just a hill-like structure spanning 1,300 square feet and rising to about 30 feet (9 meters) in height, the ruins will delight history enthusiasts.

Srila Prabhupada's Pushpa Samadhi Mandir

A memorial to the founder of ISKCON, Srila Prabhupada, is the Pushpa Samadhi Mandir, one of the most visited places in the city. The complex includes a large main shrine surrounded by a museum depicting the life of Srila Prabhupada. Born in Calcutta in 1896, the spiritual teacher traveled the world spreading the teachings of ISKCON and building 108 temples over the course of 11 years.

Gopinath Gaudiya Mathematics

This 1987 built temple complex with beautifully manicured grounds and a well-stocked library serves as a center for prayer and teaching. Founded by Srila Bhakti Pramode Puri Goswami Maharaj, Math spreads the teachings of various spiritual masters on a variety of spiritual topics.
