Multisport festival brings a breath of fresh air to Klosterneuburg

Three days of sporting highlights to join in

From sprints to Olympic triathlons, junior competitions and, for the first time, swimming, swim-run and running competitions, everything is included. The swimming competitions will start on Friday with a children's swimming event, an 800 meter and 1500 meter competition, which are also part of the Austrian Swim Open. For the first time a so-called swimrun will take place this year; here several disciplines are completed alternately.

Saturday morning then belongs to the runners. From junior competitions to a pleasure run, as well as a 5 km and 10 km run, there is also a relay run for companies. On Saturday afternoon and Sunday, the stage belongs to the triathletes, with the national champions being crowned in the sprint distance.

Royal sports program - #getyourcrown

Under the motto #getyourcrown, all participants will be rewarded with a crown. A royal program, exciting entertainment and culinary highlights await the whole family.

The mayor of Klosterneuburg, Stefan Schmuckenschlager, is enthusiastic: "All participants become queens and kings, which creates the symbolic connection with Klosterneuburg Abbey, the landmark of the area."

Organizer Philipp Kennedy also emphasizes the quality of the competitions due to the extraordinary routing: “The attractive and completely closed route in the picturesque Danube landscape of Klosterneuburg offers the ideal location for a state championship and, like last year, the junior competitions are part of the ÖRTV junior cup and represent the qualification race for the ETU European Youth Championship from 20.-23. June 2019 in Kitzbühel. "

Cheer and be amazed - state championship included

Lukas Gstaltner, the defending champion on the sprint distance, knows the course in Klosterneuburg from his previous participations: “It is of course a great honor for me to be the defending champion in Klosterneuburg. As a Stammersdorfer, it's really almost a home race for me and that's why I'm more motivated than ever to defend my title. ”Last year's winner and multiple IRONMAN winner Michael Weiss will be at the start over the Olympic distance:“ I'll be at home Audience step on the gas. "

First Gold Ribbon run in Austria as part of the multisport festival

While the triathlon competitions are about athletic competition, the first running competitions in favor of the Gold Ribbon campaign focus on a good cause. All ages and levels of ability can take part in the different distances. The net proceeds of these running competitions go to the Austrian Children's Cancer Aid.

Anita Kienesberger, managing director of the Austrian Children's Cancer Aid, is looking forward to the support of the multisport festival: “As an international symbol for cancer in children and adolescents, the gold ribbon is still largely unknown in Austria. The first ever Gold Ribbon Run is a great initiative to join forces to raise awareness of cancer among children and adolescents. "
